BINDER finalizes 10-year agreement with Bix Lackierungen

New coating line in specially designed plant

(PresseBox) (Tuttlingen/Messkirch, )
Tuttlingen-based BINDER GmbH, the world's largest specialist in simulation chambers for scientific and industry laboratories and Bix Lackierungen, the specialist for innovative low- and high-volume surface technologies for more than 125 years, have signed a 10-year agreement for further mutual and successful collaboration. As part of this development, Bix will invest in a state-of-the-art, fully automated robotic powder coating plant to handle the future needs of coated devices for BINDER GmbH. Implementation has already started. The new state-of-the-art powder coating plant will be specially designed for the needs of BINDER and located in one of Bix's own 850 m² production halls built for this purpose.

The state-of-the-art plant uses barcode scanners to identify goods delivered from BINDER and the program is started automatically. Depending on size, two robots coat the various components in two booths in rapid succession. The fully automatic plant is capable of handling significantly higher volumes with production rates of more than 40,000 pieces planned per year. The plant is scheduled to go into operation in February 2014.

"BINDER always focuses on sustainability and now with Bix have a long-trusted partner on our side," explains Peter M. Binder, chairman of BINDER GmbH. "The long-term agreement underscores our course of expansion and commitment at the German site."

"We've been collaborating with BINDER for several years already and it's nice to see how we can grow with our customers," delights Lothar Bix, chairman of Lothar Bix GmbH. "BINDER is the first customer to commit in this form, something unique for us in today's fast-paced world."

Both family-owned companies share a common past with BINDER receiving the first painted housing from Bix in the 1970s. From 1976 to 1988, all housings were painted gray and the control panel in red/black. From 1988, unit housings up to 115 liters were powder coated. Housings were delivered back weekly, now we see our products delivered back on a dailiy basis.
