The DCONex is the only specialized, integrative trade fair in Europe covering the topics of hazardous substance management and remediation of contaminated sites. The range of topics extends from dealing with existing buildings in all of their lifecycle phases to the revitalisation of contaminated properties. In this context, the DCONex focuses on all important fields of hazardous substance management and the remediation of hazardous substances in existing buildings, from planning and prevention to analysis and occupational health and safety, as well as building restoration, demolition and waste disposal.

Essen becomes the meeting point of the building trade – four trade fairs consolidated
The DCONex – specialised trade fair and congress – is held together with the construction trade fair DEUBAUKOM and the Infra Tech exhibition for infrastructure. Additional impetus is provided by the acqua alta, trade fair and congress for flood protection, climatic consequences and disaster management, which is held together with the DEBAUKOM for the first time.

Ever since the DCONex was first held 2009, it developed into the meeting point for the trade. The technical sponsor of the DCONex is the German Association for the Abatement of Hazardous Building Materials (Gesamtverband Schadstoffsanierung/ GVSS e.V.). The information offered by the DCONex is directed towards appraisers, engineers, architects, businesses specialised in remediation, demolition companies, but also towards property and facility managers, crafts persons, urban developers and building directors, as well as environmental protection and safety officers from different fields.

The congress accompanying the trade fair on 13 and 14 January offers first-hand information regarding the general orientation in connection with factual knowledge and deals with current questions. It is possible to have the DCONex congress recognised as advanced training by architectural and engineering associations. The congress consists of seven units which can be booked independently and which can also be individually combined. The following topics are covered:

- Special legal questions and liability issues
- Indoor air pollution
- Construction in existing buildings
- Pollutants in the ground and in connection with land recycling
- Pollutants in buildings (part 1 and 2)
- Extensive use of asbestos in buildings
