The i.MX series provides a scalable multicore platform that includes single-, dual- and quad-core families based on the ARM Cortex-A9 architecture. Together with EC-Master and its support for the i.MX 6 embedded Ethernet controller it provides the ideal platform to develop EtherCAT master devices based on a single hardware design.
EtherCAT is an open Real-time Ethernet based fieldbus technology which even more than 10 years after its invention still shows high growth rates in the market.
