(pressebox) Krefeld, 02.07.2008 - Siempelkamp at the Euroblech 2008 trade fair

Sheet metal forming for plate thickness ranging from 0.5 to 300 millimeters

An important trend: hot-forming of highly rigid blanks

Krefeld, June 22, 2008 At this year’s Euroblech in Hannover Siempelkamp will be showing its complete spectrum of specialized machinery for sheet metal forming – from thin sheets to sheets with a thickness of up to 300 mm. The machinery on display will include new developments for such areas as sheet forming and hydroforming.

The Krefeld-based company offers a range of systems that meet the current market demand for the hot-forming of highly rigid blanks. Currently Siempelkamp is manufacturing Rear Axel Presses which will be used in truck manufacturing to form 4 to 16 mm steel plates for rear axels housing halves.

Siempelkamp has developed a new patented press with a plate frame design specifically for the crimping process which is essential in the production of pipes for the pipeline industry. This press enables the use of a significantly higher specific forming pressure than could be achieved so far. New is also the very fast and at the same time highly precise adjustment of the press for different sheet formats, enabling very fast die changing and minimal down times. Furthermore, carrying out the crimping process with these machines has a very positive effect on the following steps of production. The new press concept is currently being commissioned. An O-forming press with a power of 720,000 kN that just recently went into operation completes the spectrum of presses for pipe production.

For the first time at the Euroblech, Siempelkamp will be presenting a combined press for the plate bending and dishing for the hot forming and cold calibration of sheets with thickness of up to 300 mm, which is used to produce items such as the half shells and dished ends of pressurized vessels used in power plants. Based on the specialized tools, the press carries out its highly precise forming right up to the very edge of the sheets, making it possible to make optimal use of the material.

Furthermore, Siempelkamp will also be presenting heat exchange presses; rubber-pad presses; straightening presses and thick plate blanking presses.
