LAPPs Kernmarkt ist der Maschinen- und Anlagenbau. Weitere wichtige Absatzmärkte sind die Lebensmittelindustrie, die Logistik, der Energiesektor und die Mobilität.

Das Unternehmen wurde 1959 gegründet und befindet sich bis heute vollständig in Familienbesitz. Im Geschäftsjahr 2020/21 erwirtschaftete es einen konsolidierten Umsatz von 1.423 Millionen Euro. LAPP (inklusive nicht konsolidierter Gesellschaften) beschäftigt weltweit rund 4.586 Mitarbeiter, fertigt an 21 internationalen Standorten und verfügt über 44 eigene Vertriebsgesellschaften. Zudem kooperiert LAPP mit rund 100 Auslandsvertretungen.
