At this year's NRF 2012 Big Show, Wincor Nixdorf will showcase the future of how consumers shop - including an entirely new approach to navigating the retail checkout process - with the introduction of a new suite of advanced retail technology solutions. Wincor Nixdorf's new checkout and shopping solutions will both significantly improve the customer shopping experience and reduce front-end operating costs.

Fully Customizable POS, Including Automated Checkout Solution Concept

Driven by the growing demand for flexibility at the retail checkout, Wincor Nixdorf is launching an entirely new level of customization for retail POS and SCO solutions in partnership with Royston LLC, the industry leader of store interiors and DataLogic, the globally recognized world leader in Automatic Data Capture and Industrial Automation. Wincor Nixdorf's entirely modular in-store technology solutions are available in fully customized design configurations to meet virtually any retail shape, size or environment with flexible mixes of self-service and checker-driven checkout and payment functionality based on the established platform of the Tower Line 150 modular series. One of the key features of Wincor Nixdorf's offerings is the capability to offer Automated Checkout solutions for all store formats like the new Tower Line 50 with a very small footprint for the convenience area or the 360 Scan Portal for high-volumes. This fully automatic scanning checkout solution with 360-degree scanning technology, promises to be a checkout game changer. The 360 Scan Portal speeds consumers through the checkout line, providing them with an enhanced overall shopping experience, while greatly improving operational efficiency for retailers. With Wincor Nixdorf's fully customizable 360 Scan Portal, retailers can repurpose front-end personnel and reduce space requirement. The 360 Scan Portal significantly increases throughput by automating both the scanning and tendering processes, and operates at roughly twice the speed of conventional checkout systems.

TP Application Suite: Uniform functionalities for all retail sales channels

With the TP Application Suite Wincor Nixdorf offers a comprehensive software solution portfolio to support the wide range of different retail formats, sales channels and processes. This software platform ensures retailers maximum flexibility in developing their sales and growth strategies and sustainably reducing complexity in their global IT landscapes.

To face the self-service trends of the retail market, the TP Application Suite provides two Hardware independent modules: TPiSCAN supports all self-service solutions in the checkout area. TPiSHOP offers the possibility to implement mobile self-scanning either on retailer-owned devices or on individual smart phone of the customer.

Vision for Retail Closed Cash Cycle

Facing the challenge of optimizing cash handling processes in retail stores and enhancing security for employees and cash, Wincor Nixdorf will showcase cutting-edge CINEO cash management technology to improve the automated cash handling at the cash offices and in the checkout area. There is now no need to manually count and double-check the takings in the cash drawers, post them and prepare the drawers in the cash office since these operations are now fully automated. To enhance the optimized cash processes also to the checkout zone and to introduce a closed cash cycle in the retail store Wincor Nixdorf will show the integration of CINEO modules into a self-checkout system. Cash is collected in a mobile drum, securely transported to the cash office and automatically consolidated in a CINEO cash office solution. So it is possible to implement a continuous process from the POS to collection by the cash-in-transit (CiT) company. The intelligent software TPCash monitors the filling levels of all cash recycling solutions, making sure that cash can be deposited and dispensed ideally at the checkout zone. Audit compliance is ensured by logging of all transactions.

Capacitive Touch Screen Customer Kiosk

Wincor Nixdorf offers a comprehensive Kiosk portfolio to meet the retail requirements in all segments for various applications. Starting from a BEETLE based and easy to use entry level product up to the introduction of an innovative new concept for touchscreen POS solutions. The 32-inch Capacitive Touch-Screen Kiosk is a high-performance display with multi-touch technology akin to today's most advanced touchscreen smartphones.

BEETLE POS Portfolio Expansion, Technology Enhancements

Lastly, Wincor Nixdorf will introduce new additions and technology enhancements to its globally recognized BEETLE POS system portfolio. BEETLE /iPRINT is the first POS system concept based on the latest energy-saving Intel Atom processor technology and a powerful POS printer. The "POS-in-a-printer" concept impresses with a small footprint. The new BEETLE /X plus is designed for longevity and low operating costs. The sealed, dustproof and fanless system is extremely energy efficient and has no moving parts, greatly minimizing maintenance and downtimes. The new BEETLE /Express is a space-saving all-in-one POS system, and the best selling the BEETLE /M-II plus now features a technology update with the latest iCore processor technology and vPro certification.
