ThyssenKrupp Elevator to exclusively supply eco-friendly elevators for Deutsche Börse
New ecologically designed headquarters building will accommodate more than 2,000 staff
In keeping with the ecological design of the building, most of the elevators will be fitted with regenerative drives. Energy generated when braking the cabs is converted into electricity and fed back to the power supply system. This lowers energy consumption by more than 30 percent compared with conventional designs and thus also reduces CO2 emissions. In addition, some of the elevator cabs will be fitted with energy-efficient LED lighting. Compared with conventional light bulbs, LED lights use up to 90 percent less energy and last considerably longer.
The destination selection control system manufactured and installed by ThyssenKrupp Elevator will also save energy: Passengers select their destination on a touch screen terminal outside the cabs, and the system directs them to the most suitable elevator to reduce waiting and travel times. At the same time, the number of journeys without passengers and stops at other floors are reduced - thus lowering energy consumption.
The first employees of the Deutsche Börse Group, one of the world's biggest stock exchange organizations, are scheduled to move into the new building from summer 2010.
