For the fifth time "Steel in vehicle production"

SCT 2017 from June 18 - 22, 2017 in Amsterdam-Schiphol

(PresseBox) (Aachen, ) For the fifth time, the Steel Institute VDEh and the Research Association for Steel Application (FOSTA), Düsseldorf, are organizing the international conference “Steels in Cars and Trucks (SCT). The conference and accompanying exhibition will be held from June 18 to 22, 2017, in Amsterdam - Schiphol with the motto “Bringing the automotive, supplier and steel industries together". The call for papers was already a great success with more than 160 submissions.

The topics being discussed will be the investigation, application and behavior of steel in vehicle construction. Steel is one of the most important materials in the automotive industry; today, roughly 60% of the total mass of a passenger car comes from steel. Different steel strengths such as high, higher and ultra-high are used, which introduction to the manufacturing process has led to new designs, improved crash safety and lower vehicle weights. The second SCT 2017 motto is "Future trends in steel development, processing technologies and applications”. This encompasses such issues as crash resistant advanced steel, the latest joining technologies and the results of research into new materials. Additional topics will include: new innovative steel with specific properties that can produce e.g. lightweight car bodies and drive trains; new forming methods and simulation methods as used in the design and manufacture of modern vehicles.

Main Topics

Steel Components in Cars and Trucks
Manufacturing of Components
New Steels
Modeling, Simulation and Testing

SCT 2017 is sponsored by Tata Steel as a platinum sponsor; Georgsmarienhütte and SSAB EMEA as gold sponsors and Saarstahl as a silver sponsor. Other national and international associations also support the event. The organization committee will make a decision on submitted abstracts in autumn 2016 and will begin preparing the program.
