High Demand for SGS Time of Flight Diffraction Training Courses: The Next Course is on August 23, 2010 in Shanghai

(PresseBox) (Geneva, ) SGS is responding to an increasing demand for TOFD training courses and therefore provides Time of Flight Diffraction training courses on a frequent basis. The next course is scheduled to run from August 23 to September 5, 2010 in Shanghai, China. The training course will be run by Mr. Norbert Trimborn, president of the Authorized Qualifying Body of the TOFD Examining Committee and Head of Special Examinations at SGS. The language of this course will depend on the subscribers and will take place in either English or Chinese or both. ---

Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) is an Ultrasonic Testing Technique with significant advantages in terms of speed and the detection of defects. It is also the most accurate defect sizing technique in general use. Furthermore, TOFD combines a high detection rate with very high reliability in preservice and inservice inspections. Time of Flight Diffraction has now become a key technology, replacing radiography, when radiation levels are critically monitored and is increasingly accepted worldwide.

Nevertheless, Time of Flight Diffraction can only be successfully applied when NDT technicians are well trained in the correct use of this testing method and the interpretation of the results. Therefore, SGS keeps promoting the importance of continuous education of NDT technicians by holding seminars on TOFD application.

In the last few months, the SGS NDT Training and Examination Center conducted Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) training courses in China, the Netherlands and Spain. These training courses proved once again to be a great success, with fully booked classrooms and an excellent pass rate.

SGS is responsive to the increasing demand for TOFD training courses and therefore continues to provide Time of Flight Diffraction training courses and examinations on a regular basis. The next course is scheduled to run from August 23 to September 5, 2010 in Shanghai, China. The training course will be run by Mr. Norbert Trimborn, president of the Authorized Qualifying Body of the TOFD Examining Committee and Head of Special Examinations at SGS.

The course is accredited by the British Institute of NDT (BINDT) and meets the requirements of the EN 473 and SNT-TC-1A Standard. At the end of the course, on September 4-5, 2010 an optional examination in accordance with the SNT or PCN/EN 473 will be offered.

SGS does now provide the PCN -TOFD courses in English, Spanish, Dutch and Chinese including fully translated training material and technical support. These courses can be organized around the globe and tailored to your request. More languages will be added in the near future.
