Thermo Fisher Scientific Receives Prestigious GOOD DESIGN Award
Thermo Scientific Niton XL3t XRF Analyzers Recognized for Design Distinction Among Thousands of Worldwide Submissions
The GOOD DESIGN Awards, the world's oldest design competition of its kind, are conferred annually by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design together with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. The 2008 awards were judged in New York and Los Angeles in November by an international jury of design professionals, architects, experts, and cultural leaders. According to the Museum, the GOOD DESIGN Award publicly acknowledges and elevates the best and finest new design and design innovation for products and graphics designed and/or manufactured between 2006 and 2008. This year's 500 winners from 34 different nations represented the world's leading Fortune 500 companies. The Chicago Athenaeum will mount the GOOD DESIGN SHOW in Chicago in June 2009.
"Our primary goal of helping users save time and improve their productivity with fast, reliable and repeatable results would not be possible without an ergonomically designed instrument, created with human and environmental factors in mind," said Jon Shein, Thermo Fisher's director of global marketing for the Niton Analyzers business unit. "From the inside out, these instruments were designed to make our customers more successful."
In 2008, Thermo Scientific Niton XL3t analyzers also won an R&D 100 Award for technological innovation - the third that has been awarded to the Niton XRF analyzer product line - and a Product of the Year Award in the Safety Products category from Creative Child Magazine. "The fact that we continue to receive awards for our Niton analyzer products as the series evolves technologically is a clear indication that Thermo Fisher Scientific's continued investment in research and development is striking the right chord in the marketplace," continued Shein.
About Niton XL3t Series Analyzers
The Niton XL3t Series analyzers, now featuring our breakthrough geometrically optimized large area drift detector (GOLDD) technology, incorporate 80 MHz real-time digital signal processing and dual state-of the- art embedded processors for computation, data storage, live video processing, and communication and come with many standard features and available options.
The standard Niton Data Transfer (NDT©) Software, a suite of data management utilities, allows users to:
- Customize the instrument
- Set user permissions
- Generate custom reports
- Print certificates of analysis personalized with a company's own logo
- Remotely monitor and operate the instrument hands-free from a PC or PDA.
Integrated USB and Bluetooth(TM) capabilities provide direct data transfer to a PC or networked storage device, eliminating the cumbersome data synchronization procedures required by PDA-based XRF analyzers. Thermo Fisher's proprietary NDT file format preserves and protects the data from each sample analysis, ensuring that this data is not unintentionally or intentionally compromised.
Additionally, users can isolate areas of interest on a sample using the integrated color CCD camera and the optional integrated 3 mm small-spot focus, and then store the test area image along with the analysis data. The Niton XL3t Series offers the only fully-integrated and environmentally-sealed tilting color touchscreen display for easy viewing of sample results in any position and under virtually all lighting conditions. Also, all Niton analyzers use third-generation lithium-ion batteries, providing the longest usage cycle of any portable XRF analyzer.
The Niton XL3t Series is available in a range of configurations and with an assortment of optional features and accessories to suit a wide variety of analytical needs.
