Mats Gökstorp new EMVA President

(PresseBox) (Frankfurt am Main, ) On 9 June 2009 the EMVA Executive Committee elected the new EMVA President, Dr. Mats Gökstorp (SICK), for a term of three years. Mats Gökstorp has been a member of the Executive Committee since the foundation of the EMVA in May 2003 and contributed to its success from the very beginning. Mats Gökstorp is member of the Management Board of SICK and responsible for the Advanced Industrial Sensors Division which includes the Vision Business Unit. Previously he was General Manager of SICK IVP. His educational background includes a doctorate in Machine Vision from Linköping University, Sweden, and a Master of Science from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, USA.

As the EMVA President his focus will be on further developing the industry marketing activites of the EMVA. "The EMVA website, newsletter, market research, standardisation initiatives, and the European Machine Vision Business Conference are the core activities that will support our members to be more successful in this challenging industrial climate," said Mats Gökstorp.

Special thanks go to Gabriele Jansen, who had served as EMVA President in the preceding two terms of office. Gabriele Jansen has initiated a wide range of projects and implemented important national and international tasks. She will carry on her work as a member of the Executive Committee. "Mats is the perfect choice for the EMVA president and I am very much looking forward to working with him and the whole team of the Executive Committee during the next three years," said Gabriele Jansen.

European Machine Vision Association

Founded in May 2003 in Barcelona, the European Machine Vision Association currently has 114 members representing 20 nations. Its aim is to promote the development and use of machine vision technology and to support the interests of its members - machine vision companies, research institutions and national machine vision associations. The main fields of work of EMVA are: standardization, statistics, the annual EMVA Business Conference and other networking events, public relations and marketing.
